Formerly Whistle Stop RV. Making a phone reservation was easy. Several confirmation emails were soon received. The office opens at 1:30pm and closes at 5:30p. We arrived after closing... read more time and an envelope contained a site map, WiFi and bath house entry codes. This is a treeless lot with a level hard surface so no need to unhook for a simple overnight stay. Most spaces are pull through and almost long enough for our 22 ft attached to the F350 truck. Wal mart is across Franklin Ave. So all in all a decent overnight spot. Some travelers don't require a hookup to run their AC and are using the Walmart lot overnight. I would recommend entering the park off Willow rather than following map instructions to turn on Franklin Ave. The park is on the corner of S. Franklin and Willow.

Thank you so much to the owners of Whistle stop RV park. Our truck broke down and had to be repaired while driving with the travel trailer. They got us... read more a spot for the night but that spot was booked for next day. They told us they would find a truck to move us to a different spot next day since we may not have our truck. Turns out that we were able to get our truck and get on the road. But none the less, thank you Whistle stop for the offer when we were in a pinch.
I’ll definitely stay there again when driving to Colorado.

Uses to be Whistle stop now its Colby RV. New ownership is horrible. Arrived after closing so did late check in but no envelopes to pay so planned... read more to pay in morning as we have done at many other campgrounds. Someone left envelope on our door before we awoke. Man came to door couple hours before checkout and told us to pay and get out. Said we shouldn't have come in they are closed for winter. No signage stating closed for winter and website says open through November 30th and 11 AM checkout. Man became belligerent, demanding payment immediately, we handed him the envelope and told us to get out now. We weren't ready to leave and said we'd be out before check out. He started yelling at us and insisted we leave immediately. Husband told him he wasn't being very business like or professional and he yelled F%&# off. Went to go back In to RV he yelled go to hell. Very uncomfortable encounter. Will never go back. There were other overnight campers parked there when we arrived. Can not recommend. Sites not maintained, grounds full of burrs, lots of truck and hiway noise, expensive compared to other locations in the area. More

For what it is, it is okay. Medium sized RV park (<50 spots) in close proximity to the highway, and a Walmart across the street. We communicated via... read more phone, and received instructions by text. We found our assigned site, and found it to be a mostly level gravel pad off gravel roads. The hookups are convenient and functioned properly. This is a put your cash payment in the envelope and through the door slot kind of place - no contact. While it is no ones idea of a destination, it is good for a night.

I wound up staying here because my car broke down en route to Denver so ... admittedly I wasn't in the greatest of moods. I wasn't even sure I... read more was going to spend the night (I wound up leaving that evening) because all I really needed was a place to work while my car was being fixed.
Simple business model: This is an antique store in what appeared to be an old train station that when purchased came with a large piece of dusty, dry property … not far from the Walmart and the I-70 exit, which was nice. The bathrooms and laundry room (with very inexpensive machines) was clean and bright, given they were protected by a clunky door passkey system. But ignore sign on the dryers warning not to overload them – I paid heed to that and nothing got dry anyway.
The owner works another job so people arrive not knowing where to go or what to do. The number on the door is linked to an answering machine and it took me about an hour for a returned phone call. I found another guest who gave me her cell number and that was promptly answered with full instructions for my site (I asked for something with a strong WIFI signal – and I certainly got that) and instructions for dropping $35 CASH into a slot (that’s $5 north of the market price for a property like this).
The owner did briefly show up to water flowers outside the building … promptly scolding me for allowing my limping 13-year-old Chocolate Lab to wander around without me holding onto his leash … with a flimsy excuse about how tough the grand metropolis of Colby, Kansas is about enforcing a leash law (mind you, this was about three miles from the center of town).
But besides that … and an encounter with a similarly confused arriving fellow RVer … I spent the day here completely alone. The day was hot and, lacking trees, the sun baked my RV as I tried to concentrate, the AC not able to keep up with the dry, oppressive heat.
Maybe a 2 1/2 star rating would be a more appropriate ranking for this property but … frankly, when my car got fixed, I was ready to get the hell out of there.
